Hey Been on SCD for a few weeks now, i have other questions where i posted my "stats" (weight loss and blood tests). I do have a question though: this is the slow carb diet, but still we eat a lots of carbs from vegetables and legumes (they do have a lot of carbs in them). What is the math behind it? If we stay and count ca...

I've been doing the slow-carb diet for 10 days now without a cheat day. I look and feel so good, I just can't bring myself to ruin all my hard work because I know I will regret it. The book is very specific about NOT skipping the cheat day, but I really don't have any cravings for fried food or donuts or whatever. I never th...

A couple of the people in my support group who are doing slow carb or low carb have told me that when they do have something very sugary or carby, as on cheat days, that they get some pretty icky things going on. They've reported feeling shaky or anxious after eating something sugary. One told me that her heart would race ...

So I went to a sushi restaurant today (my favorite) and was able to indulge in all the yummy goodness by only asking them to wrap my roll in cucumber instead of rice. That's right! Apparently it's called Kanisu and as long as they're willing to make it you are able to order ANY roll kanisu style. I'm so happy now that I h...

I've been doing the slow-carb diet for a week now and did the 'geek to freak' exercises twice. According to my body fat scale, my body fat increased from 22% to 27% and my muscle decreased!! How is this even possible? What am I doing wrong? I've been eating really healthy low fat meals with no rice, bread, fruit, whatsoever....

Greetings 4HB People, So, I'm on the second week of the 4hb. I ate cookies and pizza on cheat day, and have been following the diet as close as my budget allows. (Ok, I cheated with popcorn a bit.) I don't do the scale thing because I gain muscle fast and I know that you gain weight on cheat day so I take pictures a few tim...

Hello, I saw an interview Tim did on the Dr. Oz show and looked him up online and I am VERY interested in starting this diet. It seems to emphasize the low/slow carb point of view, which I nice. I already started cutting white carbs out of my diet and felt a definite reduction in bloating. I'm interested in all the tips the ...

I am on my 7th day today and after yesterday cheat day, I spent most of the morning in the bathroom. I wanted to make sure I continue on the diet and cooked the recipe below. I am Brazilian but hopeless in the kitchen. One of our famous dishes is Feijoada, basically a black beans stew with all sorts of meats in it. I have...

I'm roughly 7 weeks into SCD and so far it's been going okay - I've been bad on the measurement front so I can't say exactly how much weight I have lost but I certainly think I look a bit thinner in the face and around the waist so at least I am heading in the right direction. One of my big pleasures is rice (in its myriad ...

Is this a diet for life? Once you reached your ideal weight do you change anything? For example, my wife is Japanese and loves her rice. Would it be ok to add some rice after she has reached her target weitght? I am Swedish and we tend to eat a lot of potatoes so same thing there. Does Tim Ferris plan to live like this ...

Any tips on how to get my husband to join in 4HB? He keeps insisting that (1) he absolutely cannot give up potatoes without immediately dying of hunger; and (2) he travels too much to follow a diet. While his travel schedule does make it difficult, I'm pretty sure the former is not true. I mainly want to get him to join m...

I’m going to Hong Kong for three weeks soon. I go back once every few years. This is normally massively exciting, but I’m also dreading it, mainly because I know that I will stuff my face silly with all the delicious treats out there I know for a fact that I’ll be roped into eating masses of Dim Sum for lunch daily...

So, after reading TF's blog and 4HB it is not yet entirely clear to me how to best nurse an injury such as a sprained ankle or swelling from an impact (such as hitting your knee off the ground in a tackle). Any comments on this subject with regards to diet, icing, medication?

I was on this site a while back and saw a link to a website that was like a "Slow carb bible" in that you could type in any food (rice, whey etc) intro a search field and it would instantly tell you whether or not that food was allowed on the SCD. Does anyone know the url of that site?

Enough calories and proteins to gain muscle?

After having been 8 months off, I've decided to get back on the SCD and give the experiment of renewing myself another go. There were several factors that made me quit last time: First, christmas was coming up, which meant working double hours. I didn't have the time or energy to cook and shop for SCD foods. Second, I was...
