I made the T bar and bought some 10lb weight plates so I can adjust the weight as I gain strength. I found some plates that are called kettleplates because they have easy-to-grip handles and can sort of be used as kettleballs. If you're making the T bar and buying plates, look for these because they can be used for more kettleball style exercises, unlike standard plates. I think they have these at WalMart or most sporting goods stores.

Ya the plates with grips are cool. But make sure you bring your T-bar to the place you buy them as I bought some and they wouldn't fit on the bar. Only 3 of the 10 plates (same brand and weight) they had would fit on my bar. The others were too small. Kind of weird.
Also they are a little wider, so ultimately I ended up just going with the smaller no grip plates. But I wish they would have fit on my t bar.
