Is unsweetened almond milk allowed?

Is unsweetened almond milk allowed? I know regular milk and soy milk are a no go.

A recent Q & A with Tim confirmed that some almond milk without any sugar is fine. I checked it out at the store, seems like it's mostly fat, but there are some carbs in it. The ingredients of the one I looked at included tapioca starch, which is not a slow carb, so I wouldn't go nuts with it.

Diamond has tapioca starch in it but I think only as a natural thickener - there is 2g carbs in one cup and 1 g of sugar so 1 g of carbs is the starch. Not a huge amount. The fats are all good fats and only 40 calories in a cup. If someone is just dying without dairy I would say it is a pretty safe sub.

Personally, I use it with my protein powder, which supplements my protein intake if I feel like I'm not getting enough in a meal. Always unsweetened and original (no flavors). I think that the benefit of more protein outweighs the miniscule amount of carbs that I may be taking in, which to me seen no different than if I were eating almonds, beans, whatever.

Almond milk is lactose free but most brands are made partially of full brown rice (which is totally not allowed on this diet).

Pay attention to what is written on the carton.

I bought the silk unsweetened almond milk to supplement my soy protein powder. There is hardly any fat and one 1g of sugar. No rice in the ingredients.

thanks for the question I have been hopeful as well. I plan on using it instead of the scant T of heavy cream I put in my coffee.

Agreed with Laura, Tim wants to make sure you stay away from Lactose, and unsweetened Almond Milk is Lactose-free. It's okay, just don't go crazy! If you don't need it, I wouldn't bother. I haven't had a craving for any milk and going through my 4th week. Good luck!

I\'m an avid coffee drinker and trying to find ways to drink coffee (I used to drink 1 cup of skim plus and one truvia with cold brew or espresso 3 times a day) Any advise besides unsweetened almond milk (1/2 cup)
