Member intro: Recovery Shake & Slow Carb
I Just started the Slow Carb experiment on Monday. I've been exercising (CrossFit) 6 days a week (3 days on - 1 day off) for about 6 months. I've lost 35 lbs (from 202lbs to 167lbs) and dropped from size 36 to 32-31. I drink Progenex Recovery for my post-work recovery, I was wondering if any of you guys have found any recovery drink that fits the SCD. Also is it OK to drink coconut water in this diet? I've found a couple different answers, so I'm looking for a tiebreaker

Hi there, and welcome! As for the best recovery shake, most of the commercial ones have either sugar or sucralose, so to be safe, it's best to make your own from unsweetened whey protein isolate. You can also add some creatine and/or BCAAs to speed along your recovery. As for coconut water, yes there's a heated debate of whether that's allowed, I personally do not recommend it due to the sheer amount of simple sugars and lack of fiber. Coconut meat is better since there's fiber to make it digest more slowly, thus making it more of aslow carb food.
