Loving the 4HB!!!

Hi everyone, it's my 16th day on the SCD and I am so excited!

A little about me: I'm a 50 year old woman (yikes!) but most people think I'm about 40. Lol. I've always been thin (115-120 lbs) and some people may think I still am. About 3 years ago, due to my hormones changing and my thyroid taking a major dump, I gained about 10 lbs. I have tried everything to lose that weight. In fact, I have gained and lost the same 3 lbs over the last 3 years. I've also worked out for ever. 2 days with a trainer, 2 days doing a step/light weight class and 1 day playing tennis. I also run intermittently. Nothing seemed to take off those lbs.

Finally I've found an eating program that is working. In fact, my husband and daughter are both following the program. (my thin 17 year old son eats with us too but supplements with carbs- hes so thin). I've lost 4 real pounds, and 4 1/2 inches in the last 16 days! (I had dropped another pound before my last cheat day and pretty sure it will come off tomorrow).

This is not a diet to us. We love how we're eating. I am finally sleeping through the night again and have so much energy every day.

I love to cook and have been getting really creative with the foods. I motify a little because this is a lifestle for us now- not a diet. Also, this support forum is great and answers most of the questions I may have. You guys are awesome!

Thank you Tim Ferris and your 4HB!

Congrats on your success with the SCD! I'm so glad that you've found a way of living that works well with your daily schedule and life. Well done on the work you've accomplished thus far, and I wish you all the best in the future to come. It's inspiring to hear success from the older generation, not just because we don't hear it often, but because it's a real honor to hear that people even at that age can accomplish great leaps in terms of weight loss. You are truly setting an example that the rest of us can follow, and I thank you for that!

Way go go! I'm not too different from you at almost 49 :) ! Love the 4HB lifestyle too, nice that your family is involved with you, my family thinks I'm torturing myself! I've been on it since New Year's eve!

Oh, I know, not me, my husband and kids think I'm torturing myself when they are eating juicy fresh strawberries and greek yogurt. We are all healthy & in good shape anyway, they just love their fruit. yogurt, bread, cheese, & milk and for now are fit and healthy that way. They rarely eat junk or sugar. They may think I'm crazy but at least they support me! My friends think I'm crazy cutting out fruit and oatmeal. I have to say though, one of my friends that has what I call an ultimate body, still has her oatmeal and berries. It makes me wonder. The only thing I'm fighting now is getting my skin in shape after 3 big babies. Thx to SCD, I'm under 12% bf!

There's no torture at all. We all love beans! I make all kinds of homemade beans. We also BBQ 3-4 times per week. We grill everything- new York steak, chicken, pork chops, veggies, etc. It's really not that different than how we ate before- just cut the sugar and dairy(except switched from half and half to heavy cream in coffee- yum!). My husband and I go out on the weekends. Friday is moderate with maybe 3 glasses of wine but Sat we cut loose. Oh, I don't always drink wine during the week and if I do it's 1 1/2 glasses tops per night. I found 2 glasses makes me hold on to water weight. The inches lost are what convinces me!!!

Wow, 12% BF??? That's awesome! How exactly did you do that? One of the main reasons I'm doing 4HB is to lower my BF. I wear a size 4 so most people wouldn't think I need to lose weight. I'm what you call skinny fat. my BF is 20.5%, started at 21% 17 days ago. Any suggestions you may have would be appreciated.
