gonna get me a kettlebell..
right, I'm thinking of getting a kettlebell- HOWEVER- I looked at what 20kg is in terms of weights, and that just seems too heavy- even though I'm a man (22-23 years old, no real muscle, slight beer belly) I think I'll go with a 16kb kettlebell (I also have a slight case of scoliosis)- opnions please!

Get yourself onto ebay,
I just had a look and there are people selling them relatively cheap there.
U might get a bargain from someone locally selling theirs off!?

If you're only using it for swings, you'll really want more than 16kg. Actually, all you really need for swings is a DIY T-bar. This will save you a lot of money and let you adjust the load until you find the right weight for your strength level. Later, if you want to try other kettlebell exercises, you'll have a better idea of what size to buy. Good luck.

Go large; I was up to 150 reps on a 16kg KB within my first 4 sessions. Even with 20kg I have reached over 100 reps within 2 weeks. I would start with 20kg as a minimum and you should consider 24kg from the outset. As pshannon says, they are not cheap. I am guessing that you don't have access to a gym to give the various weights a test?
yuriythebest commented May 6th 2011:thanks! I'm thinking of getting a used one since the new ones are expensive and kettlebels don't get too much wear and tear lol :) the 16kg one is about 20$ , the 24 one is 10 cents but not sure if the person will increase the price. will call em tomo
