Buddy match up!

I talked to Laura and we are playing with an idea. I would love to hear your opinion on it.

How you like idea of having simple buddy matcher. Kind of what they have in rock climbing gyms. If you have not been to those it is something that allows people to match with partner, so they can climb together. If you are more body builder it is somebody that spots you while you are weight lifting. Diving is good example too. It can also be somebody that did it before and can help those that are starting, kind of sensai.

In either case it would allow people in similar weight group and similar goals to find partner that can motivate you and keep you safe and honest when you are slacking. I know it helps me big deal that I have somebody like that in my life.

Please help me with this idea to get it to something useful that people would love.

- What do you think about it?

- Would you use it?

- Who would you like to be matched with?

- How it would work to fit your needs?

etc

Great idea! I too would definitely take advantage of something like that. Just like how working out with a buddy makes it a bit more easier and fun, I think the same would be for following this lifestyle.

hm...it's a good idea, and it could work. it would be very good, if people would be matched according to their location+goal+level. I've added location, because I do not know how reliable matching over the internet is. simply because it's easier to chea

I think this is a really good idea.

I know that a 1:1 buddy would probably have the greatest impact, but as Murfi noted, if you ended up with a dud that wouldn't be good.

If the buddy system doesn't pan out, of if some people weren't looking for that intimate of accountability, then one solution to this could be making it "team" driven instead of 1:1, and set a cap of ~4-5 people on a team. Teams could be established based on current body stats, and what you are trying to achieve. This way even if some people aren't as active on the site, there will likely at least be one other team member around to keep you on track.

I believe I would use this more if there were better tracking mechanisms through this site for not just the fat burner, but also workouts. If I could input my baseline workouts for a handful of exercises I am currently using, then input my "new" results each time I performed a work out, then that would be a nice metric to follow. If you saw that someone on your team hadn't input new numbers in a week +, then you could try to motivate them and see why they are slacking!

Seems like a similar idea, never heard of that one before. It is depressing they have a BMI calculator on their front page though... Also, people here are all based on 4HB diets/workout programs, so info would be more succinct.

I think it's a great idea and second the motion for a small group or team vs. a 1:1 buddy.

It's a great idea. I know a lot of us track our vitals in other systems, so it would be good to find some way to link or integrate that. For example, I'd want my buddy to be able to check in on my eating logs depending on my goals.

I would love a buddy! But I think we should stick the vegetarians together since they seem to have the hardest time on this diet, and after that, people with similar body types and challenges. I think also pairing experienced people with newbies might help.

great idea, I would be into it, Also it would be nice to have someone to compare progress with, within my height/weight range. It may even get me moving on this exercise regime I have been stalling on....

Again, great idea

I love the idea. Count me in.

I'd prefer to be matched with people who have similar goals and body composition as mine.

This is a FANTASTIC idea. I would definitely use it. I think it would be important to match women with women and men with men in similar weight classes. There also would have to be some way to change your buddy if your buddy ended up being a dud. This would be a great accountability tool.

Great idea! I've gotten a lot from this site already, it seems like there is a good group of people on here. It would be wonderful to have a buddy or small team with similar goals to compare results and help troubleshoot.

I love the idea, but would prefer a "tribe" to a single buddy. That way, if one person isn't so compatable, available, etc., there's more of a circle. Would like to be matched by gender, age and size range, also would like to talk with others who are parents.

- What do you think about it?

Interesting idea... but it kind of depends on how people use it

- Would you use it?

Maybe. If I can find someone who is at the same level of progress as I am, and has a similar sense of humor.

- Who would you like to be matched with?

I don't know. Justin maybe? I'd want to be matched up with someone who is more or less as knowledgeable and dedicated as I am, at least until I reach a point where I think I've totally hit my goals.

- How it would work to fit your needs?

Well, I would need to maintain motivations, keep pushing workouts... actually, the main thing I would need is a gym partner-- someone I can go to the gym with and who would push me to push myself. Its hard to hit your limits on your own.

Sounds like a great idea, I would definitely use it. I think a group of 3-4 with one experienced person and people in my same height and weight categories. I'm a big guy 6'4" 314 lbs and I don't relate to a lot of the postings.
