How does my cheat day compare to yours?
New to the site here but thought I would chime in after my first week and tell you about my cheat day this past Saturday to give you a chance to critique it!
Two Chocolate Chip health bars
1 bagel with cream cheese and jelly
2 cupcakes (chocolate & mint cookies & cream)
2 eggs over-easy
2.5 turkey sausage links
3 slices of cheese pizza
Hand full of goldfish

sounds like a good, satisfying cheat. this is my sixth week on slow carb. I opted out of my cheat day last saturday, because I felt it was too negatively affecting my progress. Here's a sample of one of my cheat days though, and its pretty extreme (mind you I'm a 124 pound girl).
1/4-1/2 cup of peanut butter
6 peanut butter patties
4 thin mints
4 lemonade cookies
a chocolate donut
peanut butter m & m's
fries and mint chocolate chip ice cream
mushroom melt sandwich from potbellies
yeah I kind of lose control on cheat days, so I am sticking to carb refeeds from now on. I don't like how I feel and look after cheat days : (
Before I started the SCD, I was a fast-food junkie. I avoided it on my first cheat day, but by #2, I had McDonald's breakfast, Wendy's for lunch, and Round Table pizza for dinner. I paid for it the next day, not so much with weight gain, but with this carb and bad fat hangover. Tired all day long. But it was worth it!
Oh my sweet God!
In addition to my slow-carb breakfast (half carton egg whites stirfried with cabbage), coffee with cinnaomn, yerba mate tea with lemon and grapefruit juice, I had:
- About 1/4 cup of almond butter
- order of onion rings
- 2 pieces french loaf
- 1 bowl garden salad with dressing
- Firecracker Shrimp Penne
- 2 pints of cider, 2 rum and diets, 1 brain hemorrage shot, and coffee with tequila rose (I know, right?)
- 2 pieces of chocolate cake, followed by god knows how much additional icing
- a quarter box of Mary's crackers
I know we are allowed to eat entire pizza's and drink entire kegs - but, seriously, seriously, this has got to be killing me one Saturday at a time.
Mentally, though, how awesome! It's the first time in years that I don't feel guilty about eating.
My hubby and I had our first cheat today today after losing 6 pounds on the first week.
Started out with my low carb breakfast
Midmorning - sausage gravy and biscuit and cranberry juice, 1/2 bag of whoppers
midafternoon - 2 slices of pizza, chocolate cake and milk, rest of the bag of whoppers
evening - chocolate shake
Yikes! this scares me but it was fun to eat what I wanted without remorse. I will start again tomorrow on our regular routine and not weight for a day or two I think.....I'll let you know how it goes. My husband loaded up on pancakes and then wasn't even hungry until supper....
To say I was awful? Complete understatement. If it moved and had sugar on it, I ate the damn thing. Cheat day weight gain the next morning: 6 pounds.
Here's hoping a lot of that goes away as I'm officially now 1.5 pounds up from starting the diet last Monday.
I do see how the lifestyle change would work with this. I'm excited and it's a welcome change from my Weight Watchers cult where I'm been ineffectively living for the last couple years.
It doesn't compare:
-6 homemade buttermilk pancakes (half with bacon, half with blueberries)
-1/3 cup maple syrup
-2 eggs scrambled with cheese
-8 cinnamon rolls
-1/2 gallon raw milk
-1/2 package fig bars
-small glass orange juice (don't really like the stuff)
-1/3 pint mcconnells vanilla bean ice cream
-1/2 cup homemade cinnamon honey ice cream
-2 slices pizza
-a shit ton of homemade banana pudding
-6 glasses of cabernet
-1/2 cup of raspberries
-3 passion fruits
-1 grilled cheese sandwich
-1/3 package sunflower crackers
I think that is all ha
At 5'4" around 128 lbs now!
Here is what I had last Saturday....
1 gallon chocolate milk
2 jack in the box double cheeseburgers
1 large order of cheese sticks
1 large order of hashbrown sticks
2 large coca colas
1 large bag of tapatio doritos
4 Irish death ales
2 large orders of cajun chicken pasta
1 half loaf of garlic bread
That is a pretty average Saturday for me. Sometimes I eat even more just to push the limit.
I have been doing this for 9 months now and have lost 40 pounds and 6 inches from my waist measurement!!! So Awesome!
