My Question Regarding Cheat Day

Hello, I have a question regarding the cheat day. I know that you should have a cheat day (or a Cheat Meal) once a week and you are expected to gain some weight. I also know that the weight you gain on the cheat day is expected to go away in next 5-6 days (Sometimes before your next cheat day).

My question is:

By having a cheat day, The weight i am loosing following week ( ie 4lbs ) is what i have got from cheat day. So instead of loosing previous week's (ie 6lbs) + The fat which i am supposed to loose this week (ie 6lbs + 5lbs), I am just loosing weight which i have got due to a cheat day (+ a little extra)!! (ie 4lbs from cheat day + 2lbs this week)

Isn't is better to burn more body fat than burning the fat which you have got from cheat day? (By having a lot less of your choice of food on cheat day, not as Tim suggests to go nuts and have anything in any amount)

All i want to ask is what is your opinion on cheat day and how much do you think one should eat in order to keep the metabolism ball rolling!!

You absolutely need a cheat day, I've tried skipping and my weight loss completely stalled and the 2nd week was a complete wash.

The weight you gained isn't just fat it's mostly water weight. You should rapid loss for 1-2 days after your cheat day and then it will level out.

Tim specifically states that you may go absolutely bananas on your cheat day, something I'll say as an RN is are you weighing everyday? The human body can easily have fluctuations 3-6 pounds(more for females) in a day. For the best results, unless you have a health problem I prefer weighing once a week on the same day, at the same time, and admittedly nude to avoid clothing variances. I prefer to do it first thing in the morning after voiding. It helps me keep a good check of the weight I'm losing, also make sure you do not weigh the day after your cheat day as you will have huge spikes from retaining water, Tim recommends in the book to weigh the day of your cheat day before starting.

Thanks Cody for your reply, But my question was if it's better to have no cheat day (or just have a cheat meal) in order to loose more weight in following week. If you binge on your cheat day you will spend the next week recovering from damage caused by cheat day instead of loosing more weight!

I am perfectly fine. I am not down with any disease. and yes i do check my weight daily without my clothes on.

There is a reason for the cheat day, it mentions why in the book, something about your body will get used to eating the slow carb way and you stop burning fat, so the cheat day shocks it back into insensibility!! ha ha & even though you might have cheat day weight to lose, you will also burn the next layer of fat. Most of my cheat days are pretty sane, only a pound or two, and then within the next 2-3 days i'm back to my cheat day weight, then after that will be new "fat" loss. It really does work.

Thank you Brenda! That was really helpful.

As Brenda said, you will lose the weight you gained during cheat day and more until your next cheat day. Usually your consumption on cheat day will decrease over time, because your body adjusts to the healthy food and you don´t have the cravings any more. So: yes, to cheat day! It´s the best thing ever to keep on track for the rest of the week. There is no other diet, that works that easy!
