Hard time with breakfast.

This is my second week doing the SCD. So far things are going well and I'm not struggling with my cravings as much as I thought I would. My problem is that I don't really like eating breakfast. During the week I wake up pretty early and I'm not hungry enough to actually eat and stomach 30g of protein. Does anyone have any suggestions for a quick light breakfast?

If one is not hungry after 8 hours of sleep it is usually because of eating to close to bed time or having heavy starches at dinner. Since I assume you are not doing the second perhaps you are doing the first? I suggest eating dinner no later than 3 hours before bed. If you wake up too groggy due to low blood sugar have 1 tablespoon of peanut/almond butter an hour before bed. Also, no beans with dinner. I find that having something like 3-4 oz of meat and a big helping of green beans or broccoli makes me wake up feeling like I could eat a horse.

Hi ,

I usually go for the protein shake option as it's so quick. However the effect doesn't last so long, say only 2-3 hrs. However it does work well with the whole little and often eating idea.

    I will give this a try. I normally add bananas to mine but since we can't have fruit what do you suggest putting in the shake?

It's a pretty common thing for people to struggle with not wanting to eat a large breakfast within an hour of waking up. The good news is it gets easier over time! For a long time I was making a big veggie and egg frittata at the beginning of the week, but then got bored of it. Now I do three eggs scrambled with veggies and 3 slices of bacon.

There really aren't a lot of light options for 30 grams of protein. Some people do protein shakes for breakfast, but I think eating vs. drinking foods is much better for us since it makes the gut work harder to process it.

I do five fried eggs with buffalo sauce. They're a hell of a lot easier to eat than scrambled...

They make pre-made protein shots. That's a good way to get your protein without having to eat anything.
