I've had very mixed results recovering from Cheat Day based on what I eat. What are some of the foods that other people have found led to unexpectedly high weight gain, water weight retention, etc.? Pizza seems particularly bad.

Tomorrow I'm going to have my first 'cheat day' or 'carb loading' day, which apparently are 2 different things. My leptin levels are probably so low that my metabolism has slowed. Plus I've gone god-knows-how-long without bread, alcohol, and caffeine and I think I've earned it. Everything I read does confirm the 'cheat day' ...

I started slow carb in the beginning on the year, and it has certainly put me through a journey. It has changed my views of food forever, in some ways for the better, and in others for the worse. I started out at about 132 pounds (5'3 woman) and was able to get down to 120, something ive only dreamed of for years. I decided ...

I've been doing the slow-carb diet for 10 days now without a cheat day. I look and feel so good, I just can't bring myself to ruin all my hard work because I know I will regret it. The book is very specific about NOT skipping the cheat day, but I really don't have any cravings for fried food or donuts or whatever. I never th...

I'm nervous and feeling a little bamboozled. Just finished a cheat day that I honestly looked forward to all week, but then I woke up this morning feeling like I didn't really need it and was enjoying the diet so far...but I felt like it was part of the plan so I should stick with it. I'm not doing supplements and only got...

This is not a question, but a report: First, I like to call it "FREE DAY" because it's not "cheating" if it's specifically prescribed by the slow carb program. Second, knowing that I only have to eat in a restricted way for six days at a time, and on the seventh day that an escape from the restriction is coming has a HUGE...

I'm at Week 10.5 (I'm doing 10 day cycles between Cheat Days now). I weighed and measured myself this morning. I am at 131.4 lbs and 16.4% BF. Apparently compared to Week 9, I am up 1.2 lbs but down about an inch in tape measurements and down 1.3% in BF. And I am also dealing with my TOM so I'm bloated. No matter how buff I...

Hey everyone! I managed to stick to SCD without any cheating on non-cheat days for 4 weeks. Then I just became so annoyed by the fact that I can't have dinner at my friends/family because it's almost never SCD-friendly; it feels pretty ungrateful not being able to take a single bite of what they cooked up for you. Add to t...

I've been doing the SCD for 5 weeks now and have been having stomach problems after eating the beans. It doesn't seem to matter what type - I cook them myself and make black, white, and lentils. They make me feel bloated and gassy - my stomach was best on my Saturday cheat day this week when I had yoghurt, fruit, and every...

So I am fast approaching my first cheat day and was hoping to get some guidance. I have read 4HB and I've also read through previous posts on this site, and can't tell whether its best to just go to town and do damage control (as it seems that will really get the leptin pumping) or do just one cheat meal or to try fasting b...

From what I've read/been told, cheat days should be all out caloric MAYHEM. I am SO up for that challenge. My husband and I chose Sunday as our cheat day because we're taking his mother out to brunch and it just makes sense. So here is the plan: Regular SCD breakfast upon waking Brunch at an Inn----sausage, pancakes, coff...

This question is for all the women who are on SCD. I know that women retain water before their period and feeling of being bloated is "normal" for most of us. Still, it's really frustrating to see that all the work does not pay off due to the period weight. I think during this time we need most motivation to support ea...

Tiny point of confusion here. So I have read in the 4HB fat burning section, and I am starting the SCD tomorrow. I read that grapefruit juice will extend the effects of caffeine. I have lost 83 pounds so far but I seem to have hit a plateau now. I have about 50-60 more pounds to lose. My problem is that I will lose a small amount of weight during the week, then gain a large amount of weight on my cheat day. But it takes me the entire week to re-lose the cheat day weight so at the end of the week I b...
